Operating Regulations of the Lumbar Spine Research Society

1. Objectives
As a subspecialty research society of the Korean Society of Spine Surgery, this Society aims to promote the research of lumbar spine disorders and trauma; the planning, research, and promotion for the improvement of public health; the observance of physicians' duties for public health; the enhancement of professional dignity and the improvement of practice; and the fostering of fellowship and welfare among its members.
2. Composition and Meetings
The Lumbar Spine Research Society is composed of the President, research society committee members, the Secretary General, the Auditor, and research society members.
(1) President
① The President of the Lumbar Spine Research Society is elected as a presidential candidate by the research society and appointed by the President of the Korean Society of Spine Surgery after approval by its Board of Councilors.
② The presidential candidate of the Lumbar Spine Research Society is recommended by a committee formed within the research society for the election of the President and is confirmed at the general assembly of the research society.
③ The term of the President is one year and may be renewed once. However, in exceptional cases where there is no presidential candidate, the term may be renewed for one additional year.
④ The President presides over the Lumbar Spine Research Society and oversees all related affairs.
(2) Research Society Committee Members
① Research society committee members, numbering no more than 40 from among the research society members, are recommended by the President of the research society, confirmed by the Board of Councilors of the Korean Society of Spine Surgery, and appointed by its President.
② The term of research society committee members is two years, and up to one-half of them may be replaced each year.
③ Research society committee members are obligated to participate in the activities of the research society.
(3) Secretary General
① The President of the research society appoints one Secretary General of the Lumbar Spine Research Society from among the research society committee members.
② The term of the Secretary General is two years. However, in exceptional cases where there is no candidate for Secretary General, the term may be renewed once.
③ The Secretary General assists the President of the research society and handles the practical affairs of the Lumbar Spine Research Society.
(4) Auditor
① The President of the research society recommends one Auditor from among the research society committee members, subject to confirmation by the general assembly.
② The term of the Auditor is two years and may not be renewed.
③ The Auditor audits the income and expenditure of the research society.
(5) Research Society Members
① Research society members are recommended by the President of the research society and appointed by the President of the Korean Society of Spine Surgery.
② Research society members may participate in the activities of the research society.
(6) The convening and resolution of the general assembly shall be governed mutatis mutandis by the bylaws of the Korean Society of Spine Surgery.
3. Activities
The Lumbar Spine Research Society carries out the following activities:
(1) Activities for the advancement of lumbar spine research, including the planning of lumbar spine research, research, academic congresses, and continuing education courses
(2) Education, training, and public relations activities for public health in the field of lumbar spine research
(3) Medical consultation on lumbar spine disorders
(4) Publication of newsletters and other periodicals for the promotion of the Lumbar Spine Research Society
(5) Other activities necessary to achieve the Society's objectives
