Korean Research Society of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery

Greetings!

I am deeply honored to assume the presidency of the Minimal Invasive Surgery Research Society, one of the most important research societies of the Korean Society of Spine Surgery. I extend my sincere gratitude to all members for granting me this honorable opportunity, and I am acutely aware of the tremendous responsibility of inheriting and further developing the outstanding academic and global standing that our Society has accumulated over the years.

Our Minimal Invasive Surgery Research Society has established itself as the leading specialized academic organization in spine treatment, both domestically and internationally, through the dedicated efforts of our predecessor presidents and officers, and through the tireless research and passion of our members. We take particular pride in the remarkable clinical and academic achievements our Society has made in the field of spinal endoscopy and minimally invasive surgery, which commands worldwide attention.

We now stand at a crucial crossroads where we must transcend our existing achievements and establish standards for next-generation spine treatment in the era of artificial intelligence and robotics technology. Accordingly, I aim to pursue three core strategic initiatives during my term:

1. Leading research in AI and robot-assisted surgery: AI-based diagnosis and surgical planning, along with robot-assisted surgical techniques, are critical drivers for maximizing the safety and precision of minimally invasive spine treatment. We will substantially activate academic research for the clinical application of these advanced technologies and proactively establish safe clinical guidelines.

2. Building a practical industry-academia exchange and collaboration ecosystem: By maintaining close dialogue with leading domestic and international biotech and medical device companies, we will serve as an innovation platform where creative ideas from clinical practice translate into actual medical devices and software development. We will spare no effort in supporting our Society to play a central role in the development of Korea's medical industry.

3. Advancing education systems and expanding the global network: We will activate systematic cadaver workshops and symposia focused on advanced technologies (AI, robotics, endoscopy) to train next-generation specialists who will lead the future. We will also expand exchange with leading overseas societies to solidify our position as a global hub for minimally invasive spine treatment.

Although numerous challenges confront the medical community both within and outside the field, I am confident that with the wisdom and solidarity of our members, we can forge new paths. We will always listen to your valued voices and make an open society based on communication and harmony our foremost priority.

I sincerely wish for abundant health and development in the families and hospitals of all members, and I ask for your unwavering interest and active participation in our Society's new journey.
